Not every home/studio will be the same, so we cannot advise on this part. Hoop and trapeze skills

The Squaerial has no fixed rigging point, so you can choose how to rig it. Rig it from a central point or 2 points as a square or a corner as a diamond.

The shape of the Squaerial and the different rigging options give a unique opportunity to transfer aerial hoop and trapeze skills onto something new.

Each rigging option will change how the Squaerial feels and encourage you to use it differently.

More space for shapes

The Squaerial's shape gives you much more room inside than a hoop. This can give you some of the fun and visual impact of an aerial cube but in a 2D shape that is much more practical to store, transport, and rig!

A Squaerial is similar to an aerial picture frame or window frame. But those designs have sharp angles at the corners, which makes the corners uncomfortable and unusable. The Squaerial has been designed and tested with comfort and function in mind, so Prodigy has used rounded corners.

The Squaerial is available in one size, with an external diameter of 95cm/37.4" and an internal diameter of 90cm/35.4"

The usual size guide for Aerial Hoops doesn't quite apply to the Squaerial, as you will need to adapt to the different shape.

How to rig the Squaerial

You can choke one or two Polyester Strops or Aerial PolySafe Ropes from the top bar or a corner.

If you are using the hoop bare (un-taped), you must put tape directly under the Strop/PolySafe Rope to prevent the bar from slipping.

You could use a Prodigy Aerial Sling in some circumstances, but we don't recommend this for long-term rigging. You could use these in a performance if you need rigging, which is less visible to the audience.

If you do not want the Squaerial to spin, connect your strop/rope to your anchor point with a carabiner. We recommend this when you want to keep the Squaerial rigged from one point facing an audience.

If you want to spin, you need a carabiner at the top of the rope/strop, connected to a swivel, and another carabiner securing you to your anchor point. When rigging 2 points from a swivel, you must use a rigging plate and a couple of extra carabiners.

Aside from a safe rigging point, there are optional accessories and essential rigging gear you might need.

What you need for each type of aerial hoop varies. If you have any questions, we are happy to help. We recommend crash mats, tape, grip aids, and hand loop straps.

The Squaerial is made from 10G tubing (25.4mm with 3mm wall). It’s professionally TIG-welded with a solid mild steel insert to back the weld. It’s powder-coated with a matte black finish, which looks great, protects the steel from rust, and is easy to wipe clean. Ready to use with or without tape.
