Step by Step Instructions

While the book is written in French, the step-by-step pictures make it easy to understand regardless of language. Each move is graded by difficulty level, from one to three stars. (Novice - Advanced - Professional). However, it's important to note that this book should not be used as a substitute for professional coaching. We strongly recommend that readers attempt moves only under the supervision of an experienced aerialist.

Lyra book

This is an exceptional reference for anyone who loves Lyra. I have had this book for many years now purchased through Firetoys and can't imagine what I would do without it. The drawings are beautiful and easy to decipher. Well worth the price!

my hoop bible

I ve waited so many months for this book to be in stock and it was absolutly worth it.
you need to have hooping experiance, the drawings are sometimes a bit weird and it is in french, which doesn´t really matter.
But until now i have not found any better book.
The book includes single pointe, double pointe, static and figures in movement and also drops, and duo hooping.
It my aerial hoop bible and I take it with me to every training.

Very useful aerial hoop book

I purchased the Aerial Ring Methodology Book, even though its in French it has a lot of different, moves, rolls and doubles work which you don't find in other books. The pictures are fairly clear and the step by step rolls instructions are very helpful.

Every move you have every wanted to do and more!

Saw that this book finally came back in stock and just had to buy it as a Christmas present to myself this year. I had heard amazing things about it and it is even better than I expected! I've gotten other aerial books but this one by far has the most diverse moves of any of them. I would say though that it is more geared towards an aerialist that have a good foundation already in aerial hoop; since the book doesn't have any written explanation on how to enter and exit moves, only drawn pictures. However, the pictures still give you a great idea on what you need to do to get into the moves. This book has really spark my imagination and now I feel like I have so many fun new moves to look forward to in my training. If you are thinking of getting this book do hesitate to buy it. It really is worth every penny!

Definitely worth the investment!

This book is one of the most highly recommended resources for aerial hoop out there and having purchased it, I can definitely see why. It is an incredibly densely packed resource - you will get your money's worth for sure as there are almost 200 pages of charmingly drawn black and white pictures that will inspire you to expand your vocabulary and to eventually create your own moves.

The book is ring-bound and laid out with the moves grouped according to the following categories: static poses, using the strops, contortion poses, transitions, tumbles, exits, and doubles.

Despite the manual being written in French, there are no explanations for the moves, only the drawings themselves, so fear not if your Francais c'est un peux bof! Most moves have a star rating attached so that you can see how hard they are to access, and the author has helpfully pointed out which tricks can be done using single tabbed, double tabbed or both types of hoops.

Cons about this book: I couldn't figure out how to get into some of the moves as some of the diagrams weren't clear enough and there was no written explanation at all to accompany the diagrams. As such, this book should not be used on its own without a teacher to talk you through the moves step by step, the points of contact, your weight distribution, safe spotting and exits.

In summary, this book is an excellent resource to have lying around if you need some inspiration - just pick it up, open to a random page and chances are there will be something new to try! But, from a safety point of view, it is definitely more of a reference than an instructional manual so should not be used without a teacher to talk you through each move!

Excellent book

While the drawings can get a little difficult to decipher particularly left and right legs, this was really helpful in opening up my imagination with hoop moves and trying different moves from the usual tricks seen online. I would rate this one higher than the spin city aerial hoop bible as it gives more steps from start to finish for dynamic movement and gives a lot more moves. There is a great range of static, contortion, with the chord and doubles moves (doubles are quite often ignored in manuals). There are also plenty of moves to challenge at an advanced level and progress towards, so even after owning this for nearly 6 months I still find it useful and inspiring. The ring binding has meant the book has survived in the hands of eager students too!

(PS: Look out for the stick-man drawing that looks just like Nicolas Cage doing a single leg cradle on page 33!)

Worth the investment

it is one of the only books out there (that I could find) that features aerial hoop. While the graphics are rudimentary and the copy is in French, it was a huge help in trying to expand my knowledge of static and non-static movements.
