A STEP BY STEP GUIDE

Methodologie Trapezoidale Volume 1 (Single Trapeze) by Yvette Challande.

Although written in French, this trapeze book is a handy guide to anyone interested in learning single static trapeze techniques, methods, moves and tricks.

Apart from the preface written in French, the rest of the book is made up solely of clear step by step pictures breaking each move into its component parts.

Unlike some of the other books by Yvette, this book doesn't have a difficulty rating system. This means extra caution must be taken as some moves can be harder/more dangerous than they appear. Again, professional supervision will protect against this.

Even though this is one of the best books on trapeze that we can source, it should not be used as a substitute for professional coaching. We strongly recommend you only first attempt moves in this book when supervised by an experienced aerialist and in a safe environment.

About the Author

Yvette Challande is the founder of Theatre Cirqule along with her late husband Gerard. The school was founded in 1989 in a small town in Switzerland.

The school and theatre, now over 30 years strong now sees more than 500 participants per year and runs regular shows and year round courses.

Very useful book

This book has loads of detailed pictures and I have found this very useful, especially for someone who is new to trapeze. I would definitely recommend this book.

Book in French

I'm not sure if I knew already but the book is in (i think) french, however the images are good so you don't need to worry too much as its just the name of the trick and not how to get into it. Great visual aid.

Trapeze Methodology

A nice mixture of moves shown.
Although in French the pictures are easy to follow and this does not cause a problem for those with some experience.
A useful little reference book.

Good!

This book is very good for beginners to intermediate. The chapter titles are in French, but that is all the writing there this. My only negative comment is that it can occasionally be challenging (sometimes even impossible!) to figure out if the right or the left arm is being used, but it is still the best trapeze book on the market (that I know of). It has all the best known trapeze figures, as well as some less-known ones. If you're looking for a trapeze book, THIS is the best. Hopefully more ones of this quality will follow!

very clear illustrations of static trapeze moves

I've wanted this book for years and treated myself to it when I started to do social circus with teenagers. The illustrations are more useful (and inspirational) than using many words and the bodies depicted are refreshingly neutral, ie could be male or female in some drawings. Just remember to heed the warning to stay safe and use the book as a guide not as stand alone instruction!

The definitive trapeze book

This book is fantastic, great detailed drawings which are easy to follow and understand. There are lots of moves to get your teeth into and they are interesting and varied. The book itself arrived quickly as ever from fire toys and I would recommend it to trapeze artists of all levels.

Boss book

Really good book on trapeze. I've been doing trapeze for a year or so and use the book to train with, learn new moves and remind myself of old moves. Excellent illustrations and worth every penny. Most beautiful book on trapeze out there.
