Aerial Safety

Aerial equipment should never be used unsupervised, please consult a professional.

Everything below assumes you have a suitable and safe rigging point, like a professionally installed rigging point or a reputable and rated freestanding rig. Not every home/studio will be the same, so we cannot advise on this part. If you haven’t established a safe rigging point, please do this first with the help of a structural engineer/experienced rigger/professional familiar with what you're hanging and where you're hanging it.

Check out our aerial blogs for more information.

Dyna Core

The Dyna-Core rope is a super strong 4mm diameter, 12-strand synthetic Dyneema core enclosed by a 4-strand natural cotton rope. The core has a 1500kg MBS and provides additional strength and durability.

These ropes are also highly flexible, ensuring it is both comfortable to use and stable even wrapped and twisted.

The Dyna-Core rope features minimal stretch and no bounce, ensuring the trapeze remains horizontal and stable like a steel-cored trapeze. This does mean however, it will not cushion the impact from any drops.

Shackle Style

The Prodigy Dyna-Core ropes are fixed to the trapeze bar with high-grade stainless steel (SS316), Prodigy Hex-Lock D shackles.

These shackles are ideal for swapping out the ropes without having to buy a whole new trapeze! This also means the trapeze can be easily inspected.

Ropes and other components are inter-compatible and can be used in several different configurations. This modular feature of Prodigy Aerial equipment allows for greater flexibility when rigging.

The shackles have a low profile 6mm bar, and the hex head pin locks into place very neatly in an indentation on the shackle bar. This means it locks securely and with no protruding pin to get in the way. We recommend using a medium-strength threadlock on the thread of the pin to eliminate any risk of vibrations loosening the pin.

These shackles have a WLL of 300KG (FOS 5:1).

Easy to Inspect

The Prodigy Dyna-Core ropes are a dream to inspect as the cotton rope can be untwisted, exposing the Dyneema core and splicing to the thimbles.

The shackle design means that the ropes can be removed with ease and both the bar and ropes can be checked and replaced as needed.

Features

- Modular – Ropes and bar can easily be swapped out.
- Movability – The trapeze movements are compliant and mobile.
- Lighter bar - Moves on the ropes are easier due to the lighter weight .
- Beating feels better with a lighter bar
- Recommended for experienced aerialists!

Considerations

- Less comfortable at the elbows compared to a classic style trapeze.
- Small fingers have the potential to get caught in the shackle area.
- Harder to dress than a classic style trapeze
- If you're used to a classic trapeze, it may take time to get used to the increased mobility.

UK Made, Tested and Certified

Load tests are performed regularly on all equipment at independent certified testing facilities.

  • Working Load Limit (WLL) : 200kg
  • Factor Of Safety (FOS) : 5:1

Destructive testing is undertaken at regular intervals or when any component is modified. Working load limits are based on permanent deformation.

Never exceed the manufacturer's WLL.

Single Point Rigging

Also known as a dance trapeze, these are rigged into one single point at the top, creating a triangle shape with the ropes.

It is important to use a rigging plate or delta link in this situation to avoid tri-loading a carabiner. You may also want to use a swivel in this setup.

Double Point Rigging

The most common way to rig a trapeze. This method keeps both rope separate and leaves ample space for moves above the bar.

If you have a freestanding rig, you can attach the supplied carabiners to a strop or loop and choke these around the top bar of the rig.

If you only have one anchor point to rig from, the aerial spreader bar has got you covered! Simply attach your two carabiners to the provides holes either side of the bar.

Interesting Trapeze

This is an interesting new style trapeze. We only bought one because it was the only trapeze Firetoys had available at the time we wanted to buy a new trapeze. We have chosen not to put elbows on and with the shackles this means you can push the trapeze ropes out REALLY far. Takes a bit of getting used to but a nice alternative to the usual way trapeze ropes move. My main complaint is that the carabiners are spliced into the ropes instead of having an eye.

Reply from Firetoys - the carabiners can be removed from the internal thimble, this is described in the user guide. For any questions or further information about our products please contact our customer service, we'll be happy to help you.

Great trapeze-uneven ropes

I LOVE the actual trapeze. The bar is light but sturdy, I like the ropes etc. my only complaint is that the ropes are a different length by about 1/2-1 inch so I am trying to find a solution but have been unsuccessful so far.

Note from Firetoys: 4 ply ropes often can vary in height when rigged. The ropes can untwist or overtwist in transit, and some moves can twist with or against the lay.

An uneven amount of twist in the lay can lengthen or shorten the ropes. You can make adjustments by unclipping one side of the trapeze and adding a half or full twist to the rope, going with the lay to shorten or against the lay to tighten.

If this cannot resolve the issue, then don't hesitate to get in touch with us by phone or by email. We'll be delighted to help you.
